B'nai Mitzvah - A Meaningful Experience in Life-Long Learning

Becoming a B'nai Mitzvah signifies the beginning of Jewish adulthood when a young person assumes all of the privileges and responsibilities associated with full membership in and the taking on the responsibilities of becoming a member of our community. Our B'nai Mitzvah youth work closely with Rabbi Michael and Cantor Ruth to ensure a meaningful religious experience. Opportunities for Adult B'nai Mitzvah are also available.

Bet Class: We love to watch them love to learn!Kehillah ("Community") (7th Grade) – Sundays 10:00am-12:10pm

As move past their elementary Hebrew School experience, seventh graders are challenged to look more critically and with greater analysis and understanding at contemporary issues.  They also study ethical lessons we learn from the Prophets, and focus on Jewish History of the modern period.  This class will also include some group community service activities and some participation and leadership in the congregation’s Sunday morning minyan.  In just two hours of study on Sunday, this focus on practical post-B'nai Mitzvah learning demonstrates that Jewish learning does not end  at age thirteen.

Confirmation Class  (8th-12th Grade)  2nd Thursday of each month - 6:00-7:30pm
(except when holiday schedules force a change)

Our new confirmation program brings a variety of topics, speakers, and programs to our teens.  Jewish identity, the Holocaust, love & marriage – Jewish–American style, current events, Zionism, Jewish American history are all part of the curriculum.  The teens are challenged to find relevance to their own lives in the collective Jewish history, values, and traditions of the Jewish people..  Several times each year the teens will have an opportunity to meet with other teens from other congregations for stimulating programs.  The Confirmation ceremony, around the time of Shavuot, is for students in Grade Ten and above.
